The BIG fish are here!!! If you’re looking for a fish of a life time your best chance is now through October and November. I had Barry Gardner and guest down from Utah this past Friday and they both got their fish of a life time, 2 Giant yellow fin tuna going 140 and 190 the only thing we were short on where anglers.

After both crew members got their whooping’s they opted for the dock to do a little fish cleaning. Saturday I had Dickie Conrad and crew, we banged up the blackfin tuna losing count somewhere around 25 after that they decided to try for some wahoo. After putting a few Wahoo and a dorado in the boat they to opted for the dock early to catch up on some fish cleaning.

The fall is an awesome time to fish. Tuna, Wahoo, dolphin and cobia all move in close in big numbers. There are still plenty of amberjack, grouper and mangroves to be caught also.

But the real excitement is the huge yellow fin that come in close to the shelf and devour anything you put in their face. Give us a call and get your shot at a fish of a lifetime. We’re making short runs, the weather is cooling off and the fishing’s heating up.

offshore fishing Charters has really gotten hot lately. The blue water is pushing back in and the rip lines are starting to form up again.

The tuna bite has been hot both during the day and at night. The full moon made it tough fishing for a few days but we still managed to catch some really nice fish. With the red snapper season winding down, we spent Sunday scouting for mangroves. We stopped at several spots and there were mangrove snapper everywhere. Its not very often you have to recount your fish to make sure you don’t have over 60. The amberjack are still thick at several spots.

We saw several cobia(lemon fish) and managed to put several in the boat lately. The grouper have been hard to find but we are still putting a few in the boat. It seemed as though the Wahoo had disappeared, but we picked up a few this week along the rip.

Don’t miss out on a trip of a lifetime. The season is winding down. The fishing is great through October, If you want your chance at a 100 plus pound yellow fin tuna, book a trip September through October.

The big yellow fin tuna move in close to spawn and chase mullet coming out of the mouth of the river. The run to our favorite spots is close allowing you more time to fish. We caught several yellow fin tuna in the 150 plus pound range in September and October last year and we are looking forward to chasing them again this year. Give us a call for an offshore fishing trip adventure you won’t forget.

HTML clipboardThe last few weeks of fishing has been great. We have been running tuna trips and it has been very rewarding. The tuna fishing is red hot right now. We had fish jumping out the water for hours on our last trip. We have caught double digits on yellow fin tuna every trip we had for the last 3 weeks.

June 2009 - Grand Isle Louisiana

The yellow fin tuna have been ranging from 60lbs. to 120lbs. lately. We haven’t done much trolling lately, but when the rip has been formed up we have had good catches on dolphin and wahoo. I have seen several marlin lately and managed to catch a nice 250lb Marlin during a tournament a few weeks ago.

Red Snapper - Yellow Fin Tuna -

The red snapper fishing has been quick and easy with fish ranging in the 10 to 15lbs. range. The cobia are still here and the mangrove snapper fishing has heated up lately.

The last few weeks have been non stop action on the water. We went on several overnighters and several day trips. The overnight trips have been producing 10 plus yellowfin tuna and several wahoo and dolphin. There is a nice rip starting to form up and the action is hot if you find the right area. We are still seeing plenty of cobia around and the amberjack have been easy picking. We have caught some of the best red snapper ever in the last week, one weighing almost 40lbs. We are about to head out on another overnight trip and I will post another report when I return.

Offshore Charter Fishing Report.

The offshore fishing was incredible this week. We headed out Thursday with a 3 man crew of Kevin Bloom and friends. On the way offshore we stopped to try a little cobia fishing. It worked out great. We went 2 for 3 on cobia(lemon fish), caught our live bait and decided to head offshore for some yellow fin tuna fishing. We made the long run out to one of my favorite yellowfin tuna fishing spots and it was on. We were hooked up to yelllowfin tuna for almost 3 hours straight.

We had our limit of yellow fin tuna, which was 9 fish weighing between 40 and 60lbs. We decided to head in and try our luck at some amberjack. We made a quick stop picked up a quick limit of amberjack weighing 30 to 40lbs. Kevin told me he had never caught a wahoo and would love to catch just one. So I put the baits out and on the first pass we were hooked up. One nice 30lb wahoo and we were back on the move headed north. We decided to make one last stop where we had seen the cobia earlier and picke up one last fish. We were headed in, worn out with an ice chest full of fish and plenty of smiles from the trip.

Saturday we had Justin and his crew from Lafayette ready to go chase some yellowfin tuna. We stopped on the way out and caught a limit of amberjack, caught some live bait and headed south to one of our favorite yellow fin tuna fishing spots. The first hour was a little slow, but after that it was fish on for the next four hours. We ended up with 12 yellow fin tuna and decided to head back north for some cobia and wahoo fishing. We had a couple of knock downs, but never landed a wahoo. We stopped and picked up some cobia, lost one over 60lbs at the boat and saw several others that wouldn’t bite. With the ice chest full and everyone worn out we decided to head back to the dock. It was a great weekend of fishing with plenty of ice chests full.

Everyone was full of smiles and had plenty of great stories to tell back at the dock. I had a last minute cancellation for this weekend coming up, which is Memorial weekend and the boat is available for anyone who wants to fish the Oilmen’s tournament out of Cocodrie, La. Don’t miss out on a fishing trip of a lifetime! I will post more fishing reports as soon as I get back in from fishing.
