Capt. Kevin Hunter NO, LA USA
Been a long time since my last post. Had the 32' Twin Vee and the Strike Zone out last week while I along with Capt. Gary Bonanno were in Miami working the boatshow. We worked very hard---Ha, if you have never been to this show or the Lauderdale show and you're into boats or fishing make it a point to go, it's an endless maze of boats, engines, anything marine. Capt. Charlie on the Strike Zone have been out every fishable day this week and have done well with the yellowfin and had two great days wahoo fishing. Capt. Sonny and Capt. Bill Delebar ran three trips on my Twinvee while I was gone and spanked the tuna. Capt. LANCE Walker took the Friday trip in very rough conditions, he said 6' to 8' with no back sides on the nose all the way out. LANCE caught 6 yellas with 2 over 100 and a few blacks, I met them at the dock that afternoon and the guys were amazed at how the 32' Twinvee took the seas. My Sat. and Sun. trip were with my good friend Todd "Sleepy" Womble from Dallas. Saturday the bite was on, it took awhile to get the fish in our chumline but once we did they hit everything we tossed over, we only kept four plus a wahoo which was plenty meat for this crew and we had another day to fish. On sunday we started out chumming and chose to go pull for wahoo--a wise move ending the day with three, missing a few as well and some AJ as bonus.

All in all a good week, nice to be back on the water, just wish this weather would allow us to get out....gotta love the summertime!

On a different note, I cannot believe ammount the out of state charter boats in Venice. These guys claim to be bringing their own customers which is completely not true.....when my customer takes a vacation to Orange Beach in July and charters a boat, that is not my customer, this person is only my customer when he/she comes to fish with me in Venice where I fish year round and have been doing so for 10+ years. I would like to see what would happen if every Venice charter boat went to Orange Beach or Destin in June to fish the king mac or bonito run.....these same guys would go nuts, we would not be allowed into any marina and if we did our boats would be sabotaged and we would be harassed until we went back to La., ask any Capt. that has tried. My point is, these guys are over here for two to three months taking business away from local guides that created and promoted this fishery, raping our waters often keeping 10 to 15 yellowfin a trip. This makes me sick, anybody that has fished the lump enough has seen a wide open bite and putting large numbers in the boat is very easy at times. This is a issue of fairness and respect and I don't want to speak for every Capt. in Venice, but every one i've spoken with agrees 100 percent....nuff said.
Just my 2 cents
