Yellow Fin Tuna - Blue Marlin Fishing Report

The last two weeks of fishing has been incredible. The yellow fin tuna have shown up everywhere. We are still catching a few over 100 lbs. Live bait has started showing up everywhere. We caught 2 blue marlin last week over 400lbs. We did 2 overnight Charter Fishing Trips and loaded the boat with tuna We had to fight through the sharks a few days but managed to fill the box every day. The grass lines are trying to form and should come together with all of this good weather coming. We caught a few wahoo fish and dolphin last week. It was tough getting down to the amberjack with sharks attacking the baits on the way down, we just added some extra weigh and slung the hardtails down deep. We also stopped for mangroves and they were everywhere. The cobia have really started showing up wherever the water is clear. I'm fishing the next 10 days straight. I will post some pictures next time I'm home.

Yellow Fin Tuna Fishing Report

I've had a great couple of days last week. We started off Thursday morning pretty early and headed out in search for some yellow fin tuna; had a hard time finding bait on the way out. An hour and half later we arrived at our destination and started chumming; got a few fish up-landed 1 and lost 1.

The next drift the sharks started showing up. We went to start our thrid drift and an old friend Capt. Billy Wells showed up and offered me some incredible live bait. I can't thank him enough-he really saved my day. We put out the live bait and it was "fish on" one after another. We boated 10 more yellow fin and decided to start fishing for some amberjack. We caught a few nice ones on live bait and a few on jigs. We started making our way back to Grand Isle and ran across some black fin jumping. We boated 2 black fin and then headed back to the dock. We had a great trip and I was looking forward to my next trip with Warren the next day. We all took off early that morning and managed to put some live bait in the live well. We spent a lot of time catching bait then we headed out back offshore. When we got out there we went 3 for 5 for yellow fin and then it was back to more sharks. We grabbed some bait again from Capt. Billy Wells and spent the day catching sharks. We headed to go try for some amberjacks and caught more sharks and few jack crevalle. We managed to catch a few amberjack also. We decided to head for some mangrove snapper but the water ended up being really dirty and it had a lot of current all around the river. We decided to call it a day and talked with Warren on the run in, about our upcoming snapper trip for June. The fishing has been hot and we are not having to run very far out to catch some days.

Charter Fishing Trips in Louisiana

Hunting season is over and it’s time to get back on the water. I spent the last few months hunting all over the country, including Alaska with my buddy Clark Dixon. We have been filming for a new show that we are part of called “The Syndicate” which will air on the Sportsman Channel this fall. We were able to take some incredible animals including a giant grizzly bear, wolf, caribou, and some giant rainbow trout. Alaska was the most incredible experience I have ever had. I was also lucky enough to take 3 whitetails over 140 with a bow and 1 over 160 with a gun. It was an incredible year and I will never forget it!

I made my first Charter fishing trip out to the Midnight Lump yesterday. We left out of Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle at 5:30am and we arrived at the Lump around 7:00. It is right at 50 miles from the marina to the Lump. We chummed most of the day. There were only a few times during the day the fish came up in our chum slick. 3 out of the 4 times we hooked yellow fin tuna, 1 weighing around 140 pounds. We fought the fish for over 2 hours. He fought like he weighed well over 200. We also got a few black fin and a couple of amberjack. I tried dropping down deep a few times and all we caught were red snapper and a giant shark. The big yellowfin tuna are at the lump right now. Seems like the chances of catching a big fish are better during the week. There was a 237 pound yellow fin tuna brought back to the dock earlier this week that was caught at the lump. What an incredible fish! That was only a few pounds away from the state record. Hunting season is over its time to start fishing

After a long hunting season its back to fishing. I had a great hunting season. I spent a lot of time filming with my good friend Clark for a new hunting show that comes out later this year called "The Syndiate". It is a big game hunting show that will be coming to the sportsmans channel. If the wind would stop blowing we could get offshore fishing but it has not stopped. We managed to make it out last week and put some nice wahoo in the boat along with some Giant amberjack. I have been getting some really good wahoo reports lately and it seems like the yellowfin just started to show up. I will be back on the water as soon as wind calms down. Sitting around the fishing lodge waiting for the wind and rain to stop. Just wanted to post a few pics from last week. The Red Snapper fishing was incredible this year, we averaged a 15lb per fish limit on red snapper. We have been doing really good on the yellowfin tuna catching 14 on our last trip along with several blackfintuna and dorado fish.

The current has been really strong pushing the grass lines together making a good rip to fish. We will be fishing most of next week, we still have some openings in August.

Yellowfin Tuna - Mangrove - Red Snapper Fishing

I’m about to leave on another overnighter and had a few minutes to post a quick report. This past week has been some of the best fishing I’ve had all year.

The yellowfin tuna fishing has been on fire. We are loading the boat with yellowfin tuna on the night trips and still managing to pick up a couple good ones on our day trips.

The biggest Yellow fin Tuna we caught last week was 130 pounds. We have also been catching tons of giant blackfin tuna. The rip lines have started to form up and we have been catching tons of bull dolphin. We have also been catching a nice limit of red snapper everyday, with only a few days left in the season. We are heading out today in hopes of catching some more 20 pound red snapper. We have been averaging 15 pound per fish limit of red snapper this season. There’s more red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico than I have ever seen my entire life. The mangrove snapper have been easy to catch when targeting them. The cobia fishing has been pretty good too; we are still catching them daily. The weather looks great for the week; I will post another report this weekend. The yellowfin tuna fishing has been incredible, hopefully the action will last the rest of the summer. I still have a few openings left, so give us a call soon.

Deep Sea Fishing Charter Report

It's my first day off in a while from deepsea fishing in the Gulf. The fishing has been incredible. The tuna fishing has been off and on, but we are still managing to put 7 on the boat with the right bait. We are catching limits of 15 pound plus snapper everyday, a boat full of mangroves and about 7 cobia. The blue water is about 50 miles offshore. Now that the wind isn't blowing, maybe some grasslines will start forming up. The weather looks great for the next week. We are headed out on an overnight trip today and I'll be sure to post pictures after the weekend.

I just had a last minute cancellation for this Friday-Saturday overnight trip. Email me or call if you want to book an overnight trip, leaving at 2pm Friday or for a day trip on Saturday. Yellowfin Tuna Fishing Report Grand Isle

After sitting at home for 3 weeks because of the weather it was great to finally get offshore this weekend. We headed out of bridge side marina in grand isle Friday around 1:00p.m. We started out by catching live bait and headed to try our luck with amberjack. We pulled up dropped a live hardtail and it was an instant hookup. We pulled out 4 nice amberjack and 1 giant snapper, released him and headed south. The seas were not 1-2 at all. We got to the green canyon and started chumming, we had a double hookup on yellowfin and put them both in the boat. We continued fishing and hooked a yellowfin several drifts in a row. As it got dark the yellowfin tuna got bigger and bigger. We also managed to land 4 bigeye tuna in the 100lb range. The bigeye faught like they were 200lb fish. There was little surface action but we managed to fill the ice chest to the very top. Everyone was tired and excited about the trip so we started making our way back north. We got back to bridge side marina early the next morning, cleaned the fish and the boat. I headed to the camp took a shower and headed right back to the boat to start putting fresh ice onboard. My day had just started. The next group showed up and we were headed back offshore again. This time I decided to head to the Mississippi canyon.

We pulled up started chumming and it was on again. Triple hook up landed 3 yellowfin tuna. Next drift triple hook up 3 yellowfin tuna in the box. Third drift triple hook up 2 in the box. It wasn't even dark yet and we were loading the boat. We fished until the fish boxes were close to full and decided to head north. We stopped tied up and tried to catch some grouper. After releasing a few snapper everyone took a nap and waited for the sun to come up. We started trolling and caught bonita every pass. Headed further north trolled again and had a triple nock down first pass. After a little operater error we managed to lose all 3 wahoo, two at the boat along with the baits. Decided to call it a day and head in with another successful catch.

Wahoo Fishing Report Louisiana

We headed out of Grand Isle yesterday morning. The seas were a little rough but we managed to make it out to the floaters. We tried tuna fishing for a while, no surface action, marked fish really deep. I decided to head up North for some Deep Sea wahoo fishing.

We ended up going 4 for 5 with 1 wahoo weighing close to 80 lbs. We also managed to pick up a few blackfin tuna, then stopped at another rig, caught a few amberjack. We tried for grouper, but only caught snapper. After releasing the snapper, the seas were building, so we decided to call it a day. Louisiana Deep Sea Fishing

The fishing has been great the last few weeks. I just got finished breaking in a brand new set of yamaha 300 four strokes, the twin vee tops out at over 50 mph now. The yellowfin tuna are showing up in large numbers. We're catching plenty of tuna when the weather lets us get out.. The wahoo fishing has been hit or miss, some days we are doing well with lots of big fish other days the wahoo are nowhere to be found.

The amberjack fishing has been good when you can find live bait. I stopped on the way in earlier this week and caught a bunch of mangrove snapper. It shouldn't be long before the cobia show up and with grouper season back open I can't wait to fish some of my favorite spots. This should be a great year to go on a charter fishing trip. The Gulf of Mexico did not get much fishing pressure last year and the big fish are everywhere. I still have several days available in April and May, but the summer calendar is filling up fast, so book your trip now and don't miss out on a fishing trip of a lifetime .
