Hunting season is over and it’s time to get back on the water. I spent the last few months hunting all over the country, including Alaska with my buddy Clark Dixon. We have been filming for a new show that we are part of called “The Syndicate” which will air on the Sportsman Channel this fall. We were able to take some incredible animals including a giant grizzly bear, wolf, caribou, and some giant rainbow trout. Alaska was the most incredible experience I have ever had. I was also lucky enough to take 3 whitetails over 140 with a bow and 1 over 160 with a gun. It was an incredible year and I will never forget it!

I made my first Charter fishing trip out to the Midnight Lump yesterday. We left out of Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle at 5:30am and we arrived at the Lump around 7:00. It is right at 50 miles from the marina to the Lump. We chummed most of the day. There were only a few times during the day the fish came up in our chum slick. 3 out of the 4 times we hooked yellow fin tuna, 1 weighing around 140 pounds. We fought the fish for over 2 hours. He fought like he weighed well over 200. We also got a few black fin and a couple of amberjack. I tried dropping down deep a few times and all we caught were red snapper and a giant shark. The big yellowfin tuna are at the lump right now. Seems like the chances of catching a big fish are better during the week. There was a 237 pound yellow fin tuna brought back to the dock earlier this week that was caught at the lump. What an incredible fish! That was only a few pounds away from the state record. What a great week to be on the water. We fished out of Grand Isle. Louisiana this Tuesday and Wednesday. We left both days around 6:00 a.m. out of Bridge Side Marina and headed south looking for tuna and wahoo. Our first location we stopped at was so loaded red snapper we actually hooked 2 of them while trolling. We continued south crossing into blue water about 60 miles offshore. There was some scattered grass but nothing worth fishing. We trolled for a while both days and only landed 1 nice wahoo. We started chuming and the tuna where every where under the boat. We caught tuna after tuna loosing several to sharks. We had to move several times to get away from the sharks. On the way in we stopped to try and catch amberjack. Went way out of southwest pass for the 4th of July, weather was great and the fishing was also. Brought a friend of mine Matt on leave from the marines out to catch some Tuna, along with Britt, HB, and Robby. We ended up with 7 yellow fin 1 over 100lbs, and 16 blackfin. The rip was not really formed up that good. Trolled for marlin had 1 nice one jump in the baits over 10 times. Hope some one else catches him. Good luck.

Went out of Veice saturday the weather was great. Caught over twenty blackfin tuna and two yellowfin. Had four nice yellowfin break off, guess taht's part of sport fishing. Landed one nice bull dolphin and lost one. Too many porphis, had three porphis come up and eat or blackfin pretty neat. The floaters have been producing some nice fish, but the rip was forming up really nice on the way in. Good look hook a lady in blue for me.

Went fishing on an overnighter guided by Capt. Terry Brousseau andcapt. LANCE Walker, out around the Mars Platform Wednesday night. The wind was calm, and the water was smooth as glass. LANCE put bait in the water about an hour before sunset. Within a half-hour, the first Yellowfin was on the line. For the next 5 hours, we six passengers battled tuna after tuna, until our arms were jellied and backs ached. Some of us went to bed, and the rest of us watched, in a half-daze, as LANCE continued to bait the lines. By 1:00am, the ice chests were all full. We boated nine tuna in all. To be fair, it was the Yellowfin that kicked our butts, not the other way around. After we had all passed out, LANCE and Terry kept at 'em, just for the fun of it! I saw where my brother posted on our trip wed/thurs with the super crew of Capt. Terry Brousseau and Captain LANCE Walker with Strike Zone out of Venice, LA. Great Yellowfin tuna action all night long, and a really clean boat. An extra bonus was great looks at Short-finned Pilot Whales and some sort of smaller, beaked whales on the way out. If you've never been out for tuna, you gotta try it! Two thumbs up for this crew, charter, too.

What a trip! A couple of day ago, I took out Paul Fedric, Rodney and their girlfriends from Jackson, MS. I couldn't have asked for a better day. We caught a few nice, Yellow Finn, Amber Jack, Gouper, Rainbow Runners, and some really nice Bull Dolphin. This weekend I had a cancelation, if anyone is intreseted in a fishing trip of a lifetime. Blue marlin fishing

Sorry no reports in the past few weeks - we have been fishing day, night, tournaments and rodeos. Fishing overall has been great from 20 - 30 miles offshore out of south pass. I personally have tagged 11 Billfish this year within 30 miles from shore. The overnight trips for Tuna have been very popular with our customers - they are definitely tired the next morning after catching Tuna all night long!!!

Capt. Terry Brousseau, Capt. John Teel, Capt. Donnie Ray & Capt. Chad Horton all had good trips this past Saturday - catching big Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjacks, & large Red Snapper. But - the new kid on the dock - Capt. LANCE Walker on his debut on his first big Sport Fishing Yacht Charter tagged a 300 # Blue Marlin and caught 10 Yellowfin Tuna. CONGRATULATIONS

Had the chance to take out Thomas Krafft and friends Saturday for the trip of a life time. The day started out a little slow when bait was scarce. We stopped at several places but live bait was not around. We kept on going with seas building, nothing the 38ft Bertram could not handle confortably. When we arrived to our destination two lines were dropped and we started chumming. We only raised two sharks around 100lbs. Plans changed an we started pulling baits. The first pass by the rig and it was on the rest of the day. After putting 3 yellowfin in the boat and one rainbow runner, we had four lines get nocked down. Three customers grabbed rods and one would not quit running. We had 2 yellowfin on 1 blackfin and a white marlin. After the marlin spit the hook we had 4 lines tangled. My first mate Jeremy Powers quickly got to work and some how managed to help everybody land all three tuna. One line cut and out I sent a new bait. We ended up catching 5 more yellowfin when we were reeling in the last blackfin and it all happened. I told the customer to stop reeling the line and Jeremy quickly grabbed the rod to throw it in freespool. I could see about a 300+ # marlin chasing the fish. Right as he started taking the drag out the lady in blue jumped and sure enough our line was hanging out of its mouth. After an hour and a half six first time offshore fishman had taged and released there first blue marlin. These guys did a great job with the fish, but we could not have done it without Jeremy. SCOTT FREE:
Saturday/Capt. LANCE and Capt Scott: while many boats fished hard all day without results, they finished the day with a 40lb Amberjack, 1 Wahoo, 1 Cobia. They worked to the east of south pass
Sunday/Capt. LANCE and Capt. Scott: Went South and saw better results with 7 Yellowfin Tuna in the 60/80lb range.

LITTLE OFF THE HOOK
Saturday/Capt. Terry: 2 big Amberjack and a some nice reds.

Monday/ Capt."ON FIRE" LANCE, William Miller and Rod ( our all new crew) took Bill Cate and his wife on a trip of a life time. TUNA< TUNA< TUNA< TUNA>all day long. From 60 to 135 Lbs. And topped of the trip with 10 Dolphin. "Good Job Skippy" (I told Capt. LANCE he will never move up in this company if he keeps out fishing the Boss)
